PERFECT Livin home expo is back after 10 months of absence in the wake of Covid-19 and the movement control order.

Having undergone a branding facelift, the event is set to re-emerge stronger amid the pandemic.

The premiere furniture and home expo in Malaysia, which starts tomorrow until Sunday, serves as a curtain-raiser to what organiser i.Star Ideas Factory Sdn Bhd has planned for 2021.

Star Media Group (SMG) general manager Jason Yap, who also helms i.Star Ideas Factory, said the “inevitable break” due to Covid-19 allowed the company to realign its direction to strive on in the furnishing showcase industry while offering a wider range of home and lifestyle solutions to Malaysians.

“Perfect Livin has put in much time and effort to win the hearts of Malaysians by offering one-stop home solutions.

“We have the full backing of the group with strong resources and reserves, thus the business is moving full-steam ahead, ” he said.

Yap says a dozen more Perfect Livin exhibitions are in the pipeline for next year.

Perfect Livin home expo has been around since 2008.

Currently, Yap also oversees two other subsidiaries -– Star Property Sdn Bhd and i.Star Events Sdn Bhd, which organises exhibitions such as the Star Property Fair, Star CarSifu, Star Education Fair and Star Health Expo, among others.

He acknowledged that managing home fairs during this period was no easy task, but they were mindful of new norms in place and adhered to all guidelines.

“We are constantly monitoring guidelines from the National Security Council and Health Ministry, and the safety of our employees and visitors is top priority at all our events.

“All of us must follow the standard operating procedures and ensure that we comply 100% with the guidelines.

“This includes having visitors check in via the MySejahtera QR code and go through temperature check, as well as ensuring physical distancing among visitors and crew members at all times.

“Staff at the entrances will ensure order once visitors enter the exhibition halls and we keep track of the number of visitors in all the halls at any given time.

“We work closely with the Malaysian Association of Convention and Exhibition Organisers and Suppliers (MACEOS) to constantly keep abreast of the latest government directives, while leveraging on the strength and support of its members, ” added Yap.

Big plans ahead

Yap said the group intended to organise a dozen more home fairs nationwide in 2021.

“Perfect Livin has been to Penang, Klang Valley, Johor (Johor Baru), Pahang (Kuantan) and Sarawak (Kuching) previously and we intend to expand to other states, ” he said.

The expo, he noted, had always been a household name for one-stop home and lifestyle solutions.

“In addition to that, we also plan to offer niche products to our target market in certain expos so that it will not be like generic expositions that have mushroomed over the years nationwide, ” he stressed.

Yap said such an approach was inspired by the Milan Furniture Fair, which would highlight a different home category each year.

“For example, we may have kitchen appliances as the category fora particular year, thereby drawing related exhibitors to the event.

“Meanwhile, we may feature bath and sanitary or home living category at another event, ” he explained.

Digital presence

Perfect Livin’s website, www.perfectlivin.com, recently underwent a revamp to appeal to the younger market as well as the public in general.

Aside from highlighting upcoming fairs, promotions and offers that it used to do, the website now features more content-driven articles on home solutions.

“Besides having exhibitions that offer complete home solutions, we also seek to inspire homeowners with the latest trends and design concepts to spruce up their homes.

“Users are not only able to find new ideas via our website, but also become the designers of their homes.

“The website will also become the primary platform for digital marketing among our clientele, ” he elaborated.

Moving forward

Yap said the group was actively seeking strategic partnerships with relevant companies to offer something special to visitors.

“Interested companies can have a full-fledged partnership with us during the Perfect Livin home expo, so they are not merely our clients or exhibitors.

“We can leverage each other’s strengths at future events and exhibitions.

“Through the various platforms owned by SMG, we can strengthen each other’s branding and market positioning.

“For example, by handling Star Property Fair, we can act as a conduit between property developers who want to collaborate with furniture companies in their ventures, ” he explained.

With the wide range of portfolios under his care, Yap plans to integrate the various exhibitions based on their relevance to the visitors and clientele.

“A whole new series of local and international events and exhibitions is definitely in the pipeline to appeal to the market.

“There may be a crossover at certain events; more details will be announced later, ” he said.

Perfect Livin’ 20 will be held at Mid Valley Exhibition Centre from tomorrow to Dec 27 and Jan 1 to 3.

Each day, the first 500 registered visitors will get a Perfect Livin 2L Dry Bag for free.

The expo opens from 11am to 9pm. Admission is free.
