Celebrating Ha-DIY Raya!

With staying at home being the new norm during this MCO and Hari Raya coming soon, we would like to inspire you to celebrate this joyous festival with DIYing your own home improvements and decor. Fret not, this DIY list is beginner-friendly, but would still make your space look stunningly amazing and unique, while keeping it budget-friendly!

But firstly, safety first! Although most of these recommendations are great for beginners, some may require the use of tools and chemicals, hence, always wear your face mask and gloves when handling these substances.

1) DIY wainscoting

Looks luxurious and easy on the eyes, but surprisingly easy on the pockets too! Wainscoting is a trending wall decor that involves adding additional trimmings onto the surface of the walls that transforms a plain wall into a beautiful feature wall.

Wainscoting is a versatile trim for many rooms, be it the living room, bedroom or even the bathroom!

Although traditionally, wood frames were used for wainscotting, now you are able to purchase PVC wainscoting at a very reasonable price at any hardware or e-commerce website, that is already moulded to its shape perfectly! As PVC is easier to cut than wood, you can use simple tools for this, for example a hand saw, 45 angle ruler and heavy duty adhesive sealant.

Spice up your wall with this simple, yet luxurious-looking detail that accentuates your space. Check out this YouTube video or this video for a step-by-step installation guide.

2) DIY reupholstering dining chair

Need a change in your dining area mood? Well what about doing some makeover on your dining chair instead of purchasing a new set!

You can do this by reupholstering your chairs with new materials, especially with a different covering fabric and padding. Upholstery is the work of providing furniture, especially seats, with padding, springs, webbing, and fabric or leather covers.

This YouTube video shows a simple way to reupholster your dining chairs with the fabric of your choice! Some additional touch if you would like to transform the whole chair, not just the cushion, is to repaint the chair using a spray paint of your choice!

This idea is not limited to only your dining chairs! You can also do this to your sofas or other chairs around your home!
